PhD, associate professor

I hold an MSc from the Jagiellonian University (the Institute of Molecular Biology) in 1997 and a PhD in 2001. Between 2007-2008 I spent one year as a postdoctoral fellow at the Åbo Akademi University under the supervision of Prof. Jussi Meriluoto. Since 2019 I have worked as a JU professor and currently I am the director of Laboratory of Meabolomics. My research interests concern: production of enzymes in cyanobacteria for the enzyme-based bioremediation from cyanobacterial pollutants, interactions within freshwater microbial communities (bacteria-cyanobacteria-cyanophages), adaptative mechanisms of toxic/invasive cyanobacteria.

PhD

My name is Ariel Kamiński and I am a young postdoc researcher in the Laboratory of Metabolomics. In the laboratory, I am primarily interested in the stability of the secondary metabolites of cyanobacteria, cyanotoxins phytoremediation, and the influence of xenobiotics on aquatic plants. In my spare time, I like to be outdoors, ride a bike or walk to discover new places.

I obtained an MSc in 2000 and a PhD in 2006, both in Biology from the Jagiellonian University. From 2006 to 2020 I had worked at the Department of Plant Physiology and Development, before it was transformed into Laboratory of Metabolomics in 2020, where I am currently working. My researches focus on interactions of epiphytic lichens and host-trees, and the mechanisms of lichen resistance to heavy metals. I also conduct isolation, identification and quantification of unique lichen polyketides using HPLC and LC-MS/MS methods.

Nada is Postdoctoral Research at the Jagiellonian University in the Laboratory of Metabolomics. In 2016 she defended her PhD Toxic cyanobacteria from the territory of the Republic of Serbia at the Faculty of Sciences (University of Novi Sad, Serbia). She received Ulam grant from NAWA to work on the topic named Molecular and physiological characterization of invasive and/or toxic strains of Cylindrospermopsis raciborskii (1.1.2020.-31.12.2021).
